What Hurts The Most

It almost makes me sick to look at the NHL standings right now and see how close the Jets are in the playoff race. Not that don't like the fact, but it just makes me think of what might have been.

A question for former Thrashers fans

Ever since the Thrashers left town, I've seen many fans ranting and wishing bad luck upon the Winnipeg Jets organization. My question is, why? First of all, I consider this as the fans stabbing the players in the back. These  are the same guys who you once cheered for and in turn gave you there all every game. It isn't the players fault that the team had to relocate. If anyone is to blame, it's the former ownership group, Atlanta Spirit. They never gave the team a chance to grow. True North has done a great job in running the Jets.

Key Weekend ahead for Glads

The Gwinnett Gladiators come home for two key games against the Florida Everblades Friday and Saturday night. These are the last two games of a 3 game set between the two teams. The Everblades come in tied for second in the division and one point behind the first place Gladiators. Gwinnett has been on fire lately winning 7 in a row before Friday night's loss to Florida. Glads goalie Jeff Jakaitis has been on fire lately, taking home ECHL Goalie of the Week honors the last two weeks and tying the league record at 3 shutouts in a row. I will be attending my first Glads game Saturday!

The Dilema

I think there is a general stereotype about the south. They think that just because we don't get a lot of snow or ice, we have no interest in the game. However, if you look around metro Atlanta there are several youth hockey organization as well as many high schools with club teams. Also the Gwinnet Gladiators are constantly at the top of ECHL attendance charts. Some youth teams have been invited to regional and national events. My message is this: don't forget about us!

Intro

Hi, my name is Cody, I am a junior in high school who wants to be a sports journalist. I launched this project for two reasons 1) to have examples of my writing for college resumes and 2) be a voice for us fans in this state who feel neglected by the outside hockey community. I will have daily blog, weekly podcast, plus facebook and twitter pages to interact with my readers. Check back everyday.
